Atlanta Back 2 School Kids Dance Competition Rules
Rules and Requirements for Participation
This competition is for amateur dancers. Children must be under the age of 20 at the time of performance to participate. Judges decisions are final. We reserve the rights to deny or refuse any dance group registration submission for any reason.
Categories:
Individual and Primary Groups (dancers cannot compete in both categories)
Prizes per Category:
Individual dancers: Ages 4 - 19
1st Prize: Trophy + $300
2nd Prize: Trophy + $200
3rd Prize: Trophy + $100
Primary Group (2 or more dancers): Ages 4 - 19
1st Prize: Trophy + $500
2nd Prize: Trophy + $300
3rd Prize: Trophy + $200
Competition Entry Fee: (fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable)
Application Fee: $12 (nonrefundable)
Registration Fee: $10 per child
Winner Selection
1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be selected by a panel of Judges.
Dance: The judges will be voting on choreography, precision, technique, originality, stage presence, and attire.
Registration:
We are only accepting online registrations. Your group may register on www.ATLFoodFest.com
Video Submission:
With your registration, upload a video no more than three minutes long with your choir singing or your dance group performing. Can be a private performance, practice, or public performance. You may submit a YouTube video link in the registration.
Photo Submission:
Upload a photo of your choir or dance group during your registration. The photo must be a high resolution photo.
Solo Dancer / Dance Group Requirement
Solo Dancer Requirement:
All individual dance acts must not exceed 2 minutes in length. Please edit your music to meet the time requirement for this competition.
Dance Group Requirement:
All dance group acts must not exceed 4 minutes in length. Please edit your music to meet the time requirement for this competition.
All music must be cut, edited and of the correct pitch. Our staff is not capable of making music edits or alterations onsite. All tempos, pitches and keys must be correct on each track. Music containing inappropriate lyrics will disqualify your performance. Music must be of a reasonable volume and submitted at the START of the event. Groups should have at least two backup copies of all music
Day of the Show:
Performance Music Submission:
You may submit your music via CD, IPod, IPad or USB. All music must be organized and prepared prior to the event. CD Submission: CD’s must contain one single track per CD and be individually labeled with the entry number and entry title.
IPod/IPad Submission: Please remove cases, place on airplane mode and provide a charger. The IPod/IPad must contain an individual playlist for EACH entry containing a single track labeled with entry number and entry title in numerical order. Example: “99 – I Want To Rock with You.” In addition, all CDs and IPods must be labeled with the group name. USB Submission: 1 USB accepted per studio. The USB must contain individual files for each entry (WAV or MP3 files). Please have each file labeled with entry number and entry title in numerical order. Example: “99 – I Want To Rock with You.”
Props:
For safety measures, a dancer may not be physically placed on a prop/scenic piece that is more than 6ft high. All props must be mobile and under the watch of someone from your organization/ group at all times. Props must be built off-stage and carried, not dragged, onto the stage. Props must have the proper protection on its’ bottom surfaces to prevent damage to the floor surface Props must be brought on and off stage in a timely manner (1 minute maximum). -Props may not be in the backstage area for more than a few numbers prior to the routine (based on the stage manager’s discretion). -Props must be removed from the backstage area immediately after the routine.
Props must be stored away from pedestrian & vehicle traffic & NOT back stage, in the lobby or any inconvenient location. Prop coordinators are required to follow ALL instructions as per the Competition stage crew at ALL times. -All props must fit through a standard 36 inch wide doorway -Props cannot be stored in the venue until the day of the performance
Substances which alter the condition of the stage are prohibited. Liquids, gel, paint, aerosol, glitter, excessive small items, fire, swords, hay, feathers, knives, guns, live animals, powders, sand, leaves, confetti, etc. are NOT allowed. In the event that the stage requires a break (longer than two minutes, or it’s allowed extended time if applicable) in the performances to clean off the stage, a cleaning fee will be charged to the group. If the stage is damaged as a result of misuse, the group will be liable for damages.
Competition Environment:
All performances, including music, type of dance, and attire/costumes in the Back 2 School Kids Choir and Dance Competition must be family friendly. No music with profanity. Any presentation that does not meet the family friendly standard will be disqualified. No refund of registration fee will be offered to groups that are disqualified.
All competitors, teachers, studios owners, family members and audience members are required to show respect, courtesy and sportsman-like behavior to all competitors, staff, teachers, etc. at all times during the competition. We aim to create a healthy competitive environment in which the performers can enjoy themselves while gaining valuable performance experience as well learning the nature of healthy competition and enjoying their experience. We reserve the right to remove anyone from an event if he/she is hindering the achievement of any of the above goals. No air horns, bells, whistles or other noise making devices are allowed.
Lost Items:
Inside Out Center, Inc., and all other sponsors or partners of the Back 2 School Kids Choir and Dance Competition do not take responsibility for lost or stolen articles including personal items
Cancellation of the Event:
Inside Out Center, Inc. reserves the right to cancel any and all events due to lack of registration, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Furthermore, Inside Out Center, Inc. reserves the right to change an event’s location, venue and/or date(s). Upon changing a location, venue and/or date(s), a representative from Inside Out Center, Inc. will contact your organization. Inside Out Center, Inc. will not be held liable for any costs endured for any type of travel arrangements made upon cancelling an event or an event selling out, including but not limited to: hotel fees, transportation costs or bank fees. We HIGHLY recommend registering for an event prior to making ANY travel arrangements. We reserve the right to deny or refuse dance groups for any reason. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DENY ENTRANCE TO OR REMOVE ANYONE, AT ANYTIME, FOR ANY REASON.
